The updated iPod Classic was probably the least exciting of the new iPods announced in the September 2008 update, but that does not mean it should be dismissed. Stephen Hall have reviewed it as follows:

Firstly, the 120 GB version is again smaller than the largest capacity available last year, but it is a single platter hard drive, which allows it to maintain the slim shape of the 80 GB version from last year. More storage, a hundred dollars less, and just as small. That is progress despite calls from others that the classic isn't exciting. It still serves its purpose as the original iPod idea. Big capacity in a simple to use device.

Next, the software has been slightly updated on the iPod Classic. It now includes Genius, like iTunes and the other new iPods. This allows you, when on a song you enjoy, to select the genius feature. The iPod will then compile a list of songs (playlist), which goes together with the original song you were listening to. This helps you rediscover music in your library, with a playlist to fit your mood at the time. I have been using the genius feature for a few days now, and it is impressive the way it compiles these playlists.

Overall, the original iPod concept was so good, and that is why the iPod Classic is still a solid choice for a music and media player. It will hold thousands and thousands of songs (up to 30,000 according to Apple at 128 bitrate). Battery life for this new 120 GB model improved over the 80GB model from last year. Apple now estimates it at 36 hours audio and 6 hours video.

iPod Nano: Small also good for exercising, music lovers, commuters and students. It has a small size but also smaller capacity because it uses flash memory. The nano can also play video as well. Nanos are available in 4 and 8gb of space for 1000 to 2000 songs , 3500-7000 photos and 4-8 hours of video. The battery life is up to 24 hours of audio and 5 hours of video. Price:149-$199

iPod Classic: Instead of using flash memory it uses a hard drive, similar to a laptop. The Classic is larger in size, has all the features of the Nano, and has a much higher capacity then the rest of the iPods. The Classic is available in 80gb and 160gb size which contains about 20,000 to 40,000 songs, 25,000 photos and 100-200 hours of video. The battery life is up to 40 hours of audio and 7 hours of video. The Classic isn't as good as the other ipods for exercising since it has moving parts. Price: $249-$349

iPod Touch: The iPod touch uses flash like the Nano and Shuffle so even though it costs more than the Classic it has less capacity. The Touch comes in 8gb, 16gb and 32gb. The 8 GB model holds 1,750 songs; 10,000 photos; or 10 hours of video. The 16 GB model gives you up to 3,500 songs; 20,000 photos; or 20 hours of video. And with the 32 GB model, you can tote as many as 7,000 songs; 25,000 photos; or 40 hours of video along with you. The battery life is up to 22 hours of audio and 5 hours of video. What makes the Touch good is that you can use it as a web browser, you can view and edit your calendars and contacts, and buy music over WIFI. The Touch is similar to the iPhone in many ways. With the Touch you are getting more features and sacrificing capacity. Price:$299-$499

When we visited the asking-answer websites, we would notice that there are many questions related to iPod. What does it mean? Why do so many people ask questions about their ipod? Is it companies mistake or people can not be troubled to look after it?

We do agree that it’s the most popular music player ever. There is a word that :The more of something there is the more problems you will come across. Probably it’s a fresh technology to the guy who just owned it. And the instruction attached at the product case is so thin, they don’t think its detail is enough to solve their problems. We can use iPod for listening to audio books, and both Audible.com and the iTunes Store offer thousands of them for sale. But sometimes we would find that the book’s narrator is talking too slow or too fast, we can adjust the speed of the reading. Just go to the Settings menu on the main iPod menu screen and select Audiobooks. On the next screen, you can opt to make the playback speed slower or faster than normal. If you want to adjust the playback speed while you’re listening to the audio book file itself, press the iPod’s center button a few times. On most models, the audio book speed controls will appear on screen after a few taps and you can change your reading speed on the fly.

When we ask the question “What is the best site to download free mp3?”, the most answers will be “LimeWire”. This web site is so well-known to download free mp3 files. If we use this site, we have to download the LimeWire software first, then we can download all sorts of songs, clips, games etc. However there are the reports about viruses on downloading and its illegal. Someone told that we should not download free files, it is illegal, police can track down who is downloading free songs. We would get fined greatly. Someone don't trust free mp3 sites (viruses problem!) but try to borrow CDs from the local library. Then rip the music and return!

Oh, and we are given 20 "credits" per month to use for downloading an ad-free version of a song that we previously downloaded and have had for a month.

In order to find the free mp3's - in the "sort by" drop-down menu, choose "price: low to high." The free songs will come out first, not mixed in with the ones that you have to purchase. If we use iTunes, we can download free contents for the iPods or MP3. For someone does not have iTunes software, we can download at apple.com for free, even if we do not own the iPods. Every week the iTunes Store offers one or more free songs or shows for free download. Most are available for a week, some longer. To get this free stuff we have to create an apple id account and apply iTunes. Go to iTune store, there will be “Free on iTunes” item. In addition to those 5, there are many other ways to download mp3's. Try Google-ing* something like "legal free music" or "free legal mp3" or "download legal free mp3," etc. We will find other sites offering these services this way.

How to get rid of / protect scratches on the iPods?

iPods case material is stainless steel with an enamel paint, so sensitive to be scratched. If the scratches come out on the screen, it will bother our sight viewing, especially on Video iPods Model.

We can protect the scratches on the case by using case cover, and protect the scratches on the screen by screen-protectors film. However some iPods are suffering from scraping, and try to get rid of them. We can remove a number of the scratches by Brasso, it is like a stainless steel, iron and other types of metal cleaner. It can take a good number of scratches out of the back and the front screen. Please note that we should use only micro-fiber cloth on it and gently press to avoid damage, just try not to get inside the clickwheel.

Otherwise we can try other iPods Cleaner like iDrops, iCleaner or iKlear.
